Caitlin Clark produced the headline performance in the Indiana Fever ’s 113-90 win over the Chicago Sky , but Kelsey Mitchell quietly strengthened her case as one of the WNBA’s most dangerous scorers. Mitchell finished with 30 points, four assists, two rebounds, two steals and a block Sunday. She shot 10-of-19 from the field and connected on six of her nine attempts from beyond the arc.
That performance extended Mitchell’s WNBA record to 23 consecutive games with at least 20 points. It also moved her to the top of another significant league leaderboard. The Fever announced Monday that Mitchell leads the WNBA in 3-point percentage at 45.5 percent.
Mitchell’s shooting has reached another level
Mitchell has always been a confident perimeter scorer, but she is producing the most efficient season of her career. The four-time All-Star is averaging career highs of 24.8 points and 3.0 made 3-pointers per game. She also is shooting 51 percent overall, a remarkable number for a guard carrying such a significant offensive workload.

The combination of volume and accuracy separates Mitchell from the field. Maintaining a 45.5 percent conversion rate while approaching 120 made 3-pointers is significantly different from achieving that percentage with limited attempts.
Defenses know what Mitchell wants to do and still have struggled to stop her.
Her 30-point effort against Chicago could have been the game’s defining story under most circumstances. Instead, Clark scored 37 points, recorded 10 assists and made eight 3-pointers.
The Fever will happily accept that kind of competition for attention.

Indiana’s spacing creates a postseason problem
Mitchell is not the only Fever player among the WNBA’s most accurate outside shooters.
Sophie Cunningham ranks third at 44.1 percent, while Aliyah Boston is seventh at 41.7 percent. Clark is shooting 36.8 percent, a respectable number that becomes more dangerous because of her extraordinary range.
That collection of shooting makes Indiana difficult to defend. Opponents cannot load up against Clark without leaving Mitchell room to attack, and aggressive help defense can produce open looks for Cunningham or Boston.
Mitchell’s scoring streak also reflects remarkable consistency. She has not simply delivered occasional explosive games. She has reached 20 points every night for more than half a season.
Indiana’s championship hopes may begin with Clark’s creation and passing, but Mitchell’s efficiency could determine how far the Fever advance.
Stopping one elite perimeter scorer is challenging. Indiana currently has two capable of deciding a game, and Mitchell has been the more consistent scorer throughout the season.
