Carlos Sainz Breaks Silence on F1 Future Amid $30 Million Contract Offer
Williams driver Carlos Sainz, a multi-race winner and a highly rated, cerebral driver, is currently unhappy with his team’s performance, and there are rumors he could leave.
However, Williams is intent on keeping Sainz, offering him a reported $30 million contract to remain with the Grove-based team.
Still in his prime at the age of 29, Sainz can ill afford a wrong move at this point in his career, if he wants to truly challenge for a title.
Williams has gotten off on the wrong foot in terms of car development, despite being powered by a class-leading Mercedes power unit.

“I honestly don’t know. I cannot give you a date. I always said I was going to wait until the summer to sit down with my team and think about this and discuss with them, with James and everyone, the future of the team and my future in it,” Sainz said.
“I expect that, obviously, during the summer we will start to make a decision and start to see a bit more of the situation. Exact timings, I don’t know.”

Alpine is in a better spot than Williams at the moment, but if Sainz thinks Williams can turn things around, he may opt to stay at his current team.
At the top, the only option would be Red Bull if Max Verstappen left, but that looks like a real long shot at this point. Even then, Red Bull is known for preferring young drivers.
All roads point to Sainz staying through this season and the next, but where he drives in 2028 remains the big question.
