But their playoff odds still dropped, noticeably.

According to FanGraphs, the Tigers (53-58) have a 20.5% chance of making the playoffs and a 12.9% chance of winning the division following Saturday's late-night blockbuster trade that sent Skubal, their ace and the two-time reigning Cy Young Award winner, to the Los Angeles Dodgers for three prospects.
Those odds went down despite the Tigers beating the Athletics, 8-6, in Sacramento, Calif., on Saturday to move within 5½ games of the first-place Chicago White Sox in the division and 2½ games of a wild-card spot.
Before the Skubal trade, FanGraphs listed the Tigers with a 26.6% chance of making the playoffs and a 15.9% chance of winning the AL Central for the first time in more than a decade.
The Skubal trade news started breaking during the late-night Tigers-A's game, making for some awkward silence at times on the Detroit SportsNet broadcast with Jason Benetti and Andy Dirks. They quickly pivoted to discussing the reports that were out there on social media while noting they were unconfirmed. The Tigers and Dodgers made the trade official Sunday afternoon.
The trade rocked the baseball world, and altered World Series odds, too.
According to odds posted by BetOnline.ag, the Dodgers, looking to be the first National League team to win three straight World Series, now are +150 to win it all (from +200). The New York Yankees went from +500 to +550, the Milwaukee Brewers went from +750 to +800, and the Atlanta Braves went from +950 to +1000.
