The Juventus Women’s First Team beat Como Women 2-1 in Vinovo to secure their second pre-season friendly victory of the summer.
Following their win against Servette and the 5-0 victory over Aarau on Saturday, the 25th, the Bianconere capped off a very productive weekend of training and secured a win against a team they’ll face in the upcoming Serie A Women season, thanks to goals by Emma Stolen Godo in the first half and Ana Capeta in stoppage time of the second half.
THE MATCH REPORT
It was a lively start and, after just six minutes, Como Women took the lead: Linnea Borbye found space down the centre for Veronica Bernardi, who found herself one-on-one with Larissa Rusek and made it 1-0.
Juventus’s response comes shortly afterwards. In the 10th minute, a swift counter-attack orchestrated by Annamaria Serturini set up Alba Redondo for a shot: her effort was parried, but Stolen Godo was on hand for the rebound, firing a powerful right-footed shot under the crossbar to make it 1–1.
The Bianconere tried to take control of the game, whilst Como posed a threat mainly on the counter-attack. As the first half drew to a close, the score remained level.
In the second half, Juventus dominated possession for long spells, but Como were not sitting back and launched dangerous forays towards the Bianconere goal, such as the one in the 42nd minute, when Abi Brighton made a decisive intervention, clearing a tricky situation in her own box with superb timing after Nadine Nischler had beaten Rusek.
Just as the match seemed destined to end in a draw, the decisive moment arrived. In the second minute of stoppage time, Eva Schatzer played a through ball to Capeta, who shielded the ball, won the one-on-one with the defender and, from a very tight angle, found the right corner to beat Rumba and seal the final 2–1 victory.
This marks Juventus' third consecutive victory in pre-season, following a useful friendly designed to build up match fitness and continue their development ahead of the start of the new season.
