Dante Fowler has now followed in the footsteps of DeMarcus Lawrence, who left the Dallas Cowboys last year for the Seattle Seahawks.
It was a decision that ultimately paid off for Tank Lawrence, after he got his hands on the Lombardi trophy following years of pain with the Cowboys.
The Seahawks will be looking to join the elite club of going back-to-back, as Mike Macdonald has added to his ‘Dark Side’ defense with the arrival of the NFL veteran, Fowler.
Seattle’s defense was arguably the best in the league last season, and retaining Lawrence whilst adding Fowler will only encourage fans in the Pacific Northwest.
After leaving the Cowboys last year, Lawrence aimed a clear dig at his former team, and Fowler has seemingly done the same in his latest trip to the podium during Seattle’s training camp.

The arrival of Lawrence up in Seattle sparked a famous interview with one of the beat reporters in the Pacific Northwest.
Speaking to Hawkblogger, Tank Lawrence said: “Dallas is my home. I made my home there, my family lives there, and I’m forever going to be there. But I know for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl there.”
It may have been a spikey answer back in March, 2025, but it ultimately proved to be correct as Lawrence lifted the Super Bowl less than a year later.
Clearly, there is a trend growing of veteran defensive players making the move from the Cowboys to Seattle.
Dante Fowler issues subtle dig at Dallas Cowboys after Seattle Seahawks move
Fowler spoke to the Seattle media on Monday following the latest practice session at the VMAC.
When asked about the elite defense put together by coach Macdonald and defensive coordinator Aden Durde, Fowler likened them to some of his former teams.
“I love it. Just being a part of a lot of great pass-rushing groups, it reminds me of when I was with the Jacksonville Jaguars, or when I was playing with the Rams or the Commanders,” he said.
“We have really good interior guys, and great edge-rush guys that can get after the quarterback.”
Notably, Fowler did not mention the Cowboys despite spending three years in Dallas over two stints in his career.
Fowler was able to claim 15 sacks during his time with the Cowboys, but his standout seasons were with the Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders, and the Jaguars.
Ironically, the Seahawks play the Cowboys in the first of the preseason games next month, but it is unlikely the veteran will make an appearance on the line of scrimmage at AT&T Stadium.
