See the full story · 1 sourcesAs the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for their preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers , the team has signed a former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver during training camp.
On Monday, it was reported that the Steelers were signing ex-Chiefs wide receiver Cornell Powell , who previously was brought in for a workout.

— James Larsen (@JamesLarsenPFN) August 10, 2026 Powell, selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, had a breakout collegiate season in 2020 with the Clemson Tigers, in which he recorded 882 yards and seven touchdowns. Powell also found tremendous success in the UFL with the DC Defenders, including leading the league in touchdown receptions in 2025. He is also the first player to become an NCAA champion, a Super Bowl champion, and a UFL champion.
Powell, who spent time with the Steelers' practice squad in November 2025, will likely play in the upcoming preseason opener against the Packers , along with another new wide receiver who just signed with Pittsburgh.
