Three years ago, the Tennessee Titans traded up to select Will Levis with the 33rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. When he landed with the Titans, Levis was placed third on the QB depth chart behind Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis. Three years later, Tannehill has retired, Willis is now the Miami Dolphins’ starting QB, and Levis is once again third on the Titans’ depth chart.
But on Sunday night, he was back in action with the rest of his Titans teammates for their second preseason game of the year, and let’s just say the former second-round pick didn’t escape criticism.
Titans Fans Didn’t Like What They Saw From Will Levis
With Cam Ward and Mitch Trubisky in place, Levis may already be locked into his QB3 duties with the Titans. Though there’s always the chance that the Titans decide they only want two QBs on the roster, or that they find a trade partner for the 27-year-old Levis.
The Titans may very well be trying to showcase Levis for a trade, and he’s playing like a man who has nothing to lose.
On Sunday, that included going airborne to jump over a would-be tackler for a first down while facing a 4th-and-2 from the 7-yard-line. The Titans were trailing the Seahawks 16-12 with just 6:32 remaining on the game clock when Levis rolled out to his right and had running back D’Ernest Johnson wide open in the flat, but the QB opted to bull rush ahead and pick up the first down with his legs instead.
While Levis got the job done by moving the chains, some felt like he should have trusted his arm, or his teammate, to make the catch and possibly rumble in for a touchdown instead.
“ Why didn’t he throw it lmao .” one person remarked.

While some were laughing, others were seemingly in pain watching Levis try to do it all himself while avoiding making the play with his arm.
“ 😭😭😭 bro throw the ball!! ”
Another commenter suggested, “ The only thing he’s good for is putting his body on the line .”

Meanwhile, others saw what the cameras caught in real time. Johnson may have had an easy touchdown had Levis hit him with the ball promptly.
“Bruh coulda had a TD maybe… just throw the ball 🤦🏼♂️”
Levis will probably feel that hit in the morning, and when he looks back and watches the film, his teammates will probably give him some stick for not spreading the ball around too.
But hey, at least he got the first down.
