The FSU Seminoles are starting fall camp on Wednesday, and head coach Mike Norvell met with the media on Tuesday to preview the preseason.
He provided several injury updates about the roster, revealing that several players will be limited for the start of camp. Two players he discussed specifically are wide receiver Jayvan Boggs and linebacker Mikai Gbayor, they both missed part of spring practice and will start the fall limited
"Boggs, Gbayor that's going to be a process of just seeing full participation," he told Warchant . "They're doing a great job, doing all the things that they can do, been out there running. Those guys are progressing really well."
Boggs is entering his sophomore season and battled injuries throughout his freshman year. After a strong offseason, he was limited to just eight games, making four starts. He finished the season with nine receptions for 103 yards and one touchdown. He is once again expected to be the starting slot wide receiver.
Gbayor transferred to FSU over the offseason after spending the 2025 season with the North Carolina Tar Heels . He played in 12 games for them, making 41 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and a forced fumble. While he is entering his first year in Tallahassee, he played for Tony White at Nebraska and is familiar with his 3-3-5 defense and what it requires of the linebackers.
FSU will open the 2026 season against the New Mexico State Aggies on Aug. 29 in Doak Campbell Stadium.
