Jake and Romy Reiner honored their late parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, by throwing out ceremonial first pitches at Sunday's Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Boston Red Sox game.
The siblings took the field at Dodger Stadium in jerseys that read "Reiner." Jake appeared to throw a strike over the plate with his ceremonial first pitch, while Romy’s ball sailed slightly wide of home plate.
They then posed with Dodgers outfielder Alex Call and infielder Miguel Rojas, who caught their pitches.
The outing comes several months after Michele and Rob were found stabbed to death in their Los Angeles home, located in the Brentwood neighborhood, in December. He was 78 and she was 70.
The film director and his wife’s death certificates stated that they died within “minutes” of receiving “multiple sharp force injuries” with a “knife, by another.”
The couple's younger son, 32-year-old Nick, was arrested as the prime suspect in the murders.
He was hit with two separate charges for first-degree murder and is currently behind bars at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
Nick pleaded not guilty at a February court hearing. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia before the killings and has a long history of drug addiction .
Back in May, Jake opened up about bonding with his late dad over baseball while filming a podcast.
“When it comes to the Dodgers, my first love, it's something that I’ve always connected with my dad first and foremost, and it’s something that I will continue to connect with him for the rest of my life,” Jake said on an episode of “The Incline: Dodgers Podcast.”
Jake previously broke his silence on his parents' deaths in April. In a heartbreaking Substack essay, he wrote about how their love for the Dodgers was something him and his dad had in common.
"My connection with him was first built on baseball. It was my grandfather’s favorite sport, passed down to my dad and then to me. We loved the Dodgers more than anything," Jake penned.
"We went to so many damn games. I’ll never go to Dodger Stadium again without feeling my dad’s presence and hearing his voice tell me why Shohei Ohtani should never bat in the leadoff spot."
As for Romy — who discovered her parents dead in her childhood home — she has largely remained out of the spotlight and has yet to break her silence on her parents' tragic murders.
