As Tampa Bay prepares for its first preseason game on August 14 against the New York Jets, the former third-round pick needs as many reps as he can get to build chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield. However, coach Todd Bowles was unable to put a timeline on his return.
While the injury doesn't appear to be serious, after McMillan suffered several broken vertebrae last season, which limited him to just four games, any setback could wind up being a major blow in his push for a starting spot ahead of his third season.

With 49 catches for 638 yards and 8 touchdowns to his name, including an electric stretch of seven scores in the final five regular-season games of his rookie campaign, McMillan has proven that he has the skill set necessary to succeed at the NFL level and a trustworthy connection with his quarterback.
Now, if he can get healthy, he has an opportunity to be a difference-maker as Tampa Bay hunts for its fifth NFC South title in the last six years.
