On Monday, 5-Star EDGE Darieon Prescott gave his public commitment to Marcus Freeman, Charlie Partridge, and the 2028 Notre Dame football recruiting class.

The 6’4” 255 pound defensive end from Bolingbrook High School in Bolingbrook, Illinois, chose the Irish over a long list of schools includeing the Indiana Hoosiers, Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeues, Texas Longhorns — basically everyone in the country.

I thought he showed significant progress later in his sophomore season. That’s when he started to put things together and his physical talent truly shined.
He weighed in at over 250 pounds this spring and he’s going to be downright scary for anyone to block with his twitch as a junior.
Prescott has the traits to develop into a dominant player. He is only scratching the surface as a player and will need to put in work to best utilize his physical tools, but the combination of elite tools and elite motor are undeniable.

-Budding edge player with exceptional physical features that should give defensive coordinators multiple deployment options. -Already tipping the scales at over 250 pounds and is likely to eventually carry 280 pounds. -Can beat base blocks with his get-off and snap anticipation. -Closes in a hurry with his speed (4.89 seconds in the 40-yard dash). -Flashes impressive feel as a run defender and will empty the tank while in pursuit. -Still mastering his craft as a pass rusher, but can bend while turning the corner and tends to find success when he commits to a bullrush. -Got snaps up and down the line as a sophomore and can attack from a two, three or four-point stance. -Should be viewed at this stage as one of the top defenders in the 2028 cycle and a potential impact player on Saturdays.

This is the 3rd commitment for Notre Dame’s 2028 class. It’s a great start as the Irish will try to replicate its success with the last two historic classes with the 2028 haul.

Charlie Partridge is absolutely stacking his defensive line with 5-Stars and other blue-chip players. It’s hard to have any type of real prediction of a full roster two years out, but the bulk of what’s there should still be there in 2028 — and it’s dripping with talent.

This is a great pickup for Notre Dame. Illinois should always be home base for ND, but when a 5-Star player comes up, the rest of the country does whatever other can to bring that player to their school. luckily, the Irish are pretty good at this right now.
