Allen had his huge breakthrough in 2020 with 24.8 PPG , and since then he’s never really slowed down. Over the last six years, Allen has only scored less than 23 PPG twice, and his lowest mark was 21.4.

That’s an insane level of production, but it does need to be said that that 21.4 PPG season was recent in 2025, and his first time going below 23 PPG since 2020 was in 2024 with 22.3 PPG.

With Allen giving fantasy football teams such an advantage over the other quarterbacks available, his ADP is very high this year, but for good reason.

The biggest appeal for Allen is that he’s 6’5”, 237 lbs, and an elite runner. Over the last two years, Allen hasn’t thrown for over 4,000 yards, and he hasn’t had over 4,500 passing yards since 2020.

That’s not to imply that Allen is not a good passer, but it goes to show how much of his value comes on the ground. Last year, Allen ran for 579 yards, which isn’t phenomenal, but at his size, he ran for 14 touchdowns.

Since a rushing touchdown is worth six points, that’s a big way that players can have a big fantasy season. The thing is that touchdowns also tend to be fairly volatile, and it’s tough to depend on them year over year.

With that being said, Allen has shown that with his talent and playstyle, he’s able to score at least 12 plus touchdowns in each of the last three seasons. It’s worth noting that Allen hasn’t run for over 600 rushing yards since 2022, when he had seven touchdowns.

The overall trend seems to be that while the rushing yards have decreased for Allen, his rushing touchdowns have gone up.

However, we’ve yet to even talk about the biggest piece of news around Allen this offseason, Buffalo trading for DJ Moore. While Moore had a down year with 50 catches for 682 yards last year, keep in mind that he had 966 yards in 2024 and over 1,100 yards in four of his eight NFL seasons.

The reason this matters is that the Bills have not had a receiver with over 850 receiving yards since 2023 . If Moore can improve on his 2025 numbers, which seems very possible, that should help Allen.

The ADP for Allen right now on FantasyPros is QB1 by a wide margin. Allen has an ADP of 23.7 while Lamar Jackson is up at 38.9.

Allen absolutely deserves to be the QB1 in fantasy football this year, and taking him around pick 23 isn’t a bad selection. Especially this year with a quarterback like Kyler Murray available at 140.9, I would just rather wait and draft the quarterback for my fantasy football team later on, even though Josh Allen is very talented.
