Four-time NBA champion LeBron James announced he was joining the Philadelphia 76ers for his 24th season in late July. The news shocked the sports world, as many believed he was planning to retire after losing in the 2026 NBA quarterfinals to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Not only is James coming back for year 24, but on Sunday, he took to social media to announce another big move, alongside several massive names within sports and entertainment.
The King, along with six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, Academy Award winner Will Smith, tennis legend Rafael Nadal, and renowned DJ Steve Aoki, are all champion owners of their respective E1 racing teams.
E1 Racing, officially known as the UIM E1 World Championship, is the world’s first all-electric, hydrofoiling speedboat racing series. The championship has completed four races, with the most recent event concluding in Monaco. The next event is the inaugural E1 Luanda GP in Angola, scheduled for September 12 through 13th. James took to Instagram in excitement to announce the event as his team sits in third place behind Brady and Smith’s.

“You know we bringing in first place, we gonna have an unbelievable time, it’s gonna be a great experience, great fun, and ah we coming for gold baby, let’s go,” James said via his personal Instagram page.
AIUIa sits in third place in the overall standings as the series now heads into the second half of the season. James is gearing up to head to Angola on behalf of Team AlUla, and they’ve got a lot to prepare for, as Brady’s team is at the top of the leaderboard and looks to defend its title entering the next race.
