The New Orleans Saints walked away from the 2026 NFL Draft with one of the best wide receivers on the board: Arizona State star Jordyn Tyson. He was widely viewed as one of the top wideouts in the class, alongside Carnell Tate and Makai Lemon, and a consensus first-round talent. But he wasn't the only receiver the Saints drafted. Three rounds later, New Orleans selected North Dakota State's Bryce Lance, and then, in the sixth round, LSU's Barion Brown.
Somewhat surprisingly, it's actually Brown who has head coach Kellen Moore fired up during camp. "We watched a lot of evidence of him playing receiver and playing impactful plays in the SEC for a number of years, not just the LSU year, but the Kentucky years. And when you watch all that exposure and get to know Barion, you're really fired up to have this guy," Moore said.

A four-star prospect coming out of high school in Tennessee, Brown started his college career at Kentucky in 2022, finishing his freshman year with 628 yards and four touchdowns on 50 receptions, averaging 12.6 yards per catch.
The next year, he posted 539 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 43 receptions, while also contributing on the ground with 147 rushing yards on 12 carries. His biggest impact, though, came in the return game, where he racked up 576 kickoff return yards, including three returned for touchdowns — production that earned him first-team All-American and second-team All-SEC honors.
He followed that up with first-team All-SEC honors the next season before transferring to LSU for his final year. There, he totaled 532 receiving yards and one touchdown on 53 catches, along with 445 kickoff return yards and a kickoff returned for a touchdown. The Saints selected him with the 190th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2026 draft.

New Orleans appears to have Chris Olave and Tyson locked in as Tyler Shough's top two receivers, but everything after that remains unsettled. Devaughn Vele is presumed to be the front-runner for the No. 3 role, with fourth-round rookie Lance also in the mix. But there's an opening for Brown to make a push for that spot if he keeps performing well in camp.
The coaching staff already seems to love him, and there's a real opportunity for him to carve out a role in the offense. At the very least, he should be an exciting player to watch on special teams with his 4.40 speed.
