Dodgers Option Flame-Throwing Right-Hander After Strong Debut

The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned right-handed reliever Seth Halvorsen to Triple-A following his Dodgers debut in Wednesday's win over the Kansas City Royals.
In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled right-hander Landon Knack to replace Halvorsen.
Halvorsen began the season with the Colorado Rockies , posting a 4.74 ERA through 21 appearances while having massive struggles with his control throughout. The Rockies traded him to the Dodgers towards the end of July in exchange for minor leaguers Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek.
The Dodgers sent Halvorsen to Triple-A to kick off his time with the organization, and he appeared to figure things out in the minors. He made six appearances in Triple-A, holding his opponents scoreless through 6.1 innings of work and striking out eight batters. Halvorsen also converted both of his save opportunities with Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers called him up for Tuesday's game against the Royals, and he stepped in to handle the 10th inning after the Dodgers forced extras with a game-tying single in the eighth inning. Halvorsen came into the game and stranded the ghost runner, getting out of the inning with just 11 pitches.
Halvorsen's fastball reached triple digits in his Dodgers debut, reaching 101.3 mph on his heater.
While the roster move doesn't make much sense at a glance, the Dodgers are in the midst of a 13-game stretch without a rest day, and wanted to have a "cover guy" to handle multiple innings and keep the bullpen fresh.
Knack has pitched in parts of three seasons with the Dodgers, beginning in 2024. He has a career 4.33 ERA across 27 appearances for the ball club.
His best season came in 2024, when he served primarily as a starter for the Dodgers. He had a 3.65 ERA through 69 innings pitched, also striking out 69 batters over the course of the season.
The following year, Knack made just 10 appearances for the Dodgers and had a 4.89 ERA through 42.1 innings pitched.
The right-hander has spent most of 2026 on the injured list, but has still made two appearances for the Dodgers so far. Through those two outings, Knack has allowed five runs in as many innings while striking out four batters.
