The defender first came to Frankfurt on loan from Stade Rennais in summer 2024. His first season was a successful one, resulting in a third-place finish in the Bundesliga and qualification for the UEFA Champions League. Eintracht Frankfurt took up the contractual option to buy Theate, who made 42 appearances across the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and UEFA Europa League. Last season, he featured in another 33 matches for the club. Theate is now moving to Bologna FC, having already spent the 2021/22 season with the Italian Serie A club, who will have an option to buy the 26-year-old Belgian international. “We would like to thank Arthur for the past two years spent with us and all of his commitment to Eintracht Frankfurt,” said sporting director Timmo Hardung. “He quickly established himself as an important part of our team, and we would like to wish him all the very best for the future both on and off the pitch in Bologna.”
