Vinicius Jr.’s contract renewal is one of the biggest pending objectives of Real Madrid’s summer transfer window, especially given that the player has already entered the final year of his deal.
Come January, the Brazilian will be free to discuss terms with external clubs, and Real Madrid are doing everything in their capacity to ensure he does not leave as a free agent this summer.
The priority for both parties is to agree on a renewal, but Vinicius’ demands are too high for the board’s liking. They have thus opened the possibility of selling him this summer should an agreement not be reached.
A ‘historic’ demand
As reported by Mario Cortegana via Inaki Angulo’s YouTube channel , Vinicius Jr. is demanding a ‘historic’ contract from Real Madrid in order to renew, something the club will find difficult to offer.

The Spanish journalist also describes the situation of Florentino Perez and Co. as having their ‘hands and feet tied’ in front of the player’s demands, making it unlikely that they are met.
For an agreement to be reached at this point, both parties will likely have to compromise. As matters stand, however, neither is willing to take a step back and are standing firm on their respective positions.
In the journalist’s opinion, however, the ball is in Vinicius’ court given the contractual situation and the natural pressure building on the club with every passing day.
Vinicius sees one practical option
Arsenal are seen as the only top club capable of signing the Brazilian should he opt to leave this summer and have the financial stability required to pull off his transfer fee and salary.

For Vinicius, however, a move to London is not as appealing as it means he will have to forfeit the title of being a ‘Real Madrid player,’ something that holds massive value and prestige.
For the player, representing Los Blancos has always been his ultimate dream and he deeply wishes to reach an agreement over his renewal at the earliest.
Should the club not budge on their offer, however, it remains to be seen which path he chooses to tread.
As matters stand, negotiations are expected to restart once the player returns from his vacation after the FIFA World Cup.
