See the full story · 2 sourcesArctos has agreed to buy 10% of the Atlanta Falcons, according to two people who asked not to be named because they are not authorized to speak on the matter. Arthur Blank currently owns just under 73% of the Falcons. It is unclear if the 10% being sold is just Blank's stake or includes limited partners.
The deal, according to the two people, will take place over the next 18 months in two tranches with an enterprise value of $10.6 billion. If the deal is approved by the NFL, which is expected to vote on it in October, the Falcons would be Arctos' fourth investment in an NFL team, the others being the Los Angeles Chargers, the Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns.
The NFL declined to comment. The Falcons and Arctos did not respond to a request for comment.
NFL valuations have increased with the pending sale of the Seattle Seahawks for an NFL record $9.61 billion. The league is expected to vote on the Seahawks deal later this month.
In CNBC's Official NFL Valuations published in September 2025, the team was valued at $8 billion, ranking 11th in the league.
Blank, the co-founder of Home Depot, purchased the team in 2002 for $545 million.
The Falcons have never won a Super Bowl and in 2025-26 failed to make the playoffs for an eighth consecutive season.
Atlanta Falcons CEO Greg Beadles appeared on CNBC in late July and said the organization had made significant changes to its football leadership this year.
In January, it hired former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan as president of football, a newly created role. Shortly afterward, the team hired Chicago Bears General Manager Ian Cunningham and former Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski .
"Despite average performance on the field the last several years, our business has been really strong," Beadles said. "We had our best business year that we've had last year, as a matter of fact."
The Falcons' home stadium, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, will host the 2028 Super Bowl.
