The cliché that “if the one wins against Alabama is the only one, it’s worth it” is a silly one. It isn’t a literal outlook, but constantly chasing Alabama is part of what has gotten Auburn into its current mess.
The program has also lacked legitimate leadership at the top of its athletic department. Golesh’s decision to take his team to a location where it can focus solely on football and building relationships represents a significant step in establishing his culture.
It won’t all pay off in one season. However, 2026 needs to be a year of progress, and the Auburn administration needs to exercise patience as Golesh builds the program in his image.
