The Seattle Seahawks and general manager John Schneider have a history of treading cautiously with players who have troubled pasts, but sometimes the the possibility of adding a promising young talent is too good not to explore.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Sunday that the Seahawks hosted former Detroit Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold for a visit on Sunday. Arnold, who was drafted 24th overall in 2024, was released by the Lions on June 29 after he was arrested on eight total felony counts ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery. Authorities accused Arnold of orchestrating the abduction and beating of three men whom prosecutors believe were wrongly suspected of stealing luxury goods and $100,000 in cash from Arnold’s AirBnB rental in Florida. Prosecutors further claim that although Arnold was not present at the time of the abduction and beating, he directed his associates to hold, beat, and pistol-whip the victims.
Arnold posted bond and is eligible to sign with any team. He previously visited the Houston Texans in early July.
The visit comes during third-round pick Julian Neal’s ongoing absence as he navigates through a leg injury. Although head coach Mike Macdonald said Neal is not expected to be sidelined long-term, the team’s interest in another cornerback indicates Neal’s status is definitely something to monitor in the coming days.
Across two seasons with Detroit, Arnold was an inconsistent performer, but showed promise. He struggled heavily with penalties at the beginning of his rookie campaign, before showing signs of progression in the back half of the season. But, he failed to build off the strong second half in his sophomore year, where he regressed both in coverage and stopping the run. He recorded 70 combined tackles, one interception and 18 passes deflected across 22 career starts, having missed half of 2025 due to injury.
Arnold is scheduled for an arraignment hearing in a Tampa court on Aug. 13, two days before the Seahawks’ preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
