Pricing details for Microsoft's special edition 25th anniversary Xbox Series X have leaked online — and the translucent green console is just as expensive as we'd feared.
The ever-reliable billbil-kun from Dealabs has now revealed that the console will cost an eye-watering €899.99, which typically translates to the same $899.99 price point in the U.S.
A release date has also been uncovered: November 27, which lines up neatly with Black Friday. Notably, however, this is later than the October 20 launch date previously leaked for the 25th anniversary Xbox Series X controller . (You'll also get one with the console, of course, but these will also be available separately.)
While €899.99 may sound like a lot (and it is), it's worth putting in some context. After various price rises, this is now just €100 more than the standard Xbox Series X with a disc drive, and the same price as a standard PlayStation 5 Pro. It is also a price that may still tempt many OG fans, due to the console's stylish design — reminiscent of the original Xbox console launched a quarter of a century ago.
There's no getting around the fact that consoles are simply getting more expensive, as manufacturers deal with tariff and logistical uncertainties, plus spiralling memory costs due to the rise of AI data centers. Just yesterday, Nintendo confirmed the new U.K. pricing for Switch 2 , which will rise in cost within the U.S. and Europe from September 1.
Microsoft is expected to make its special edition 25th anniversary Xbox Series X pricing and availability official next week at Gamescom. Stand by for official confirmation then, and much more from the show here on IGN.
