Every year the NFL media and talking heads predict which coaches will be on the hot seat. I always found it quite humorous that teams will fire a coach less than a third of the way through a season. Interim coaches rarely, if ever, turns things around in the NFL and it’s like a loud announcement that you’ve given up on the season.
Coaches that do get the gig after taking over for part of a season never last anyway. It’s a better exercise to predict (and lay money on) who wins Coach of the Year. A handful of guys get fired yearly. Only one is coach of the year. Caesar’s Sportsbook gives us some (surprising) odds on the favorite this year.

Jesse Minter, Baltimore Ravens +750
It’s his first time ever being The Guy. He made his name as defensive coordinator for the national champion Michigan Wolverines. They were great. He spent two years heading up the defense for the Los Angeles Chargers earning good reviews around the league. If the Ravens embrace his system and execute this could be an elite defense. Roquan Smith, Kyle Hamilton and some new pieces are worth a look. On offense, it’s Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and a good receiving corps that can put up points. The AFC North is a gettable division and the Ravens should be favorites. How dominant they are will determine if Minter takes home the hardware.
Prediction : Top three in the voting.

Kellen Moore, New Orleans Saints +1200
There’s plenty of optimism in New Orleans right now. Post Drew Brees the quarterback position has been lacking, if we’re being kind (my momma taught me to be kind). Jameis Winston didn’t work out. Derek Carr was an unmitigated disaster and Spencer Rattler will be a backup, nothing more.
Enter Tyler Shough. He took over the last half of 2025 and did some rookie things. He also did some veteran things. The running game with Travis Etienne and the passing game with Jordan Tyson are nice upgrades. The offensive line remains a question mark.
The Saints lost their leader in Demario Davis but the beloved Cam Jordan returns to contribute more in the locker room than on the field. His experience is invaluable and the Saints are better overall with him in the building. The schedule isn’t the easiest but if New Orleans can navigate the first four weeks, the division is there to be had. Success ultimately rides on Shough and Moore’s contribution to his development. Are they the real deal, a poor man’s Payton and Brees? Time will tell. I think they’re a year away.
Prediction : A few votes, nothing more
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - OCTOBER 27: Offensive coordinator Joe Brady stands with Mitchell Trubisky #11 and Josh Allen #17 of the Buffalo Bills before the game against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on October 27, 2024 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images)

Joe Brady, Buffalo Bills +1200
To whom much is given, much is expected. Joe Brady has the keys to the NFL kingdom. Buffalo has had major expectations for years now . It’s fair to say they’ve underachieved. Or more specifically, had the misfortune of living in Patrick Mahomes’ AFC. He’s cost them at least one Super Bowl appearance. Brady’s reputation stems from his part in the greatest offense ever to see a football field in 2019 LSU.
Brady immediately jumped to the NFL and was underwhelming. He found his footing in Buffalo and now he’s the man. He’s got an MVP level quarterback, a solid run game, a new weapon at wideout. If Josh Allen, James Cook and DJ Moore fulfill Brady’s offensive vision we could see historic offensive numbers. This was THE job in the offseason. Brady got it and he will be under a microscope immediately. It’s going to be a fun ride.
Prediction : Big favorite, but success is expected.
EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - JUNE 10: Head Coach John Harbaugh of the New York Giants speaks with media after minicamp at Quest Diagnostics Training Center on June 10, 2026 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Caleb Bowlin/Getty Images)

John Harbaugh, New York Giants +750
Do the sportsbooks see something the rest of us don’t? Really this is the first overvalued play I saw. The Giants have some talent but Jaxon Dart, Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo are all returning from significant injuries. The NFC East is also top heavy. Philadelphia and (yes) Dallas are going to be very good. New York just isn’t as good as either of them. Harbaugh is a hell of a good coach though. The Giants will be better. Is Harbaugh good enough to turn them around? Yes, yes he is. Is he good enough to jump the Eagles and Cowboys? In time, yes. Just not this year.
Prediction : Not in the running.
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - DECEMBER 21: Head coach Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots reacts during the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on December 21, 2025 in Baltimore, Maryland. (Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images)

Mike Vrabel, New England Patriots +7500
The longest shot on the board and the best value pick in the league. There are three reasons why. First, Vrabel has an image problem. The offseason distraction could have cost him his job. He has to coach, answer lingerin...
