Shohei Ohtani beat out an infield single to score the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning on Saturday night as Los Angeles overcame a second straight blown save by Edwin Díaz for a 2-1 victory. Kyle Tucker broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run in the eighth inning before Díaz surrendered the tying run in the bottom of the ninth. Yoshinobu Yamamoto didn’t figure in the decision after laboring through 5.2 scoreless innings, striking out six while throwing 107 pitches.
Corbin Carroll tied the game with an RBI triple in the ninth for the Diamondbacks before losing the game in the 10th. Gabriel Moreno had two of Arizona’s seven hits and Brandon Pfaadt turned in an outstanding effort, allowing two hits over seven shutout innings.
Left-hander Eduardo Rodríguez (10-4) works the series finale for Arizona, coming in with a 2.71 ERA and 1.240 WHIP in 23 starts and 136.1 innings. The Dodgers also go with a left-hander as Justin Wrobleski (11-3) gets the ball. He enters with a 3.31 ERA and 1.068 WHIP over 117 innings in 19 appearances and 18 starts.
