See the full story · 1 sourcesThe Green Bay Packers will host a workout for German-born kicker Lenny Krieg on Monday, just two days before the start of training camp, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports .
Krieg (6-2, 214) was born in Berlin, began his pro football career in the German Football League and participated in European League of Football before joining the NFL. The 23-year-old was perfect on 14 field goal attempts during the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine and then spent the 2025 season on the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons as an international player. Krieg was most recently a member of the New York Jets, but he was waived on June 1.
The Packers have sixth-round pick Trey Smack, the favorite to win the kicking job, and veteran Lucas Havrisik, who kicked a franchise record 63-yard field goal last season, on the offseason roster at kicker.
During the 2025 preseason with the Falcons, Krieg made 1-of-2 field goals (both from at least 50 yards) and his lone extra point attempt. He also handled nine kickoffs. His lone successful field goal was a 57-yarder.
The Packers have an international exemption player on the roster already: edge rusher Dante Barrett, an England native. It's possible the Packers will release Barrett and sign Krieg, providing a third kicker to start camp.
