The Cincinnati Bengals were back on the field Wednesday, holding their first practice of training camp.
With all players in the building and no contract drama hanging over their heads, this seemed to be the most upbeat start to camp in recent years.
As is common in training camp, we did see a bit of a scuffle early on between wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and cornerback Jalen Davis.
A better look at day one's fight. Ja'Marr ripped off and tossed DJ's helmet, jawed with the entire defense, and then flinched at Jalen (who for a split second squared up at WR1). @WLWT pic.twitter.com/tIa01kioZB

It appears DJ Turner II’s helmet got ripped off and tossed by Chase, and then Davis acts as if he is going to throw a punch at Chase. Luckily, no players were injured, and the situation looked to be diffused relatively quickly. From the video, it doesn’t look as if any actual punches connected.
When asked about the scuffle after practice, Davis said, “We’re just competing, that’s all it is. I always feel like the energy’s gotta be like that on both sides of the field. (Expletive) I hope there’s a fight every day.”

Turner downplayed the fight and didn’t seem to have any ill will toward Chase.
“Brothers fight. That’s all it is. Nothing to it,” Turner said.
Joe Burrow didn’t seem to mind the scuffle either.
“Whatever those guys need to get excited to get better, go ahead and do it,” Burrow said while later adding, “If you can maybe punch someone in the face in about 15 to 20 seconds and then get back and lined up, that’s probably ideal.‘

It didn’t seem like anyone in the locker room was going to let the scuffle carry over, so hopefully it’s not a huge deal, and no fights lead to any injuries going forward.
