Tracy, still navigating his first season as interim manager, has decided that it probably makes sense to ignore the rumor mill as the league approaches its annual trade deadline, all but deciding to go dark ahead of his club's final pre-deadline contest against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
“I don't have notifications on any of that stuff. That would be a disaster," Tracy said, as transcribed by The Boston Globe's Tim Healey.

The Red Sox reportedly have been active, so one can only imagine how aggressive the mood swings are when you start thinking about acquiring Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz , San Francisco Giants second baseman Luis Arraez , Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman , Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto , or Miami Marlins shortstop Otto Lopez .
If you haven't noticed, they need infield help and have already made a push to acquire it.
Boston will almost certainly push at least one more deal across the line prior to the deadline at 6 p.m. ET on Monday, as it still needs to find out who will be playing second base after Curtis Mead was placed on the injured list just two days after being acquired from the Washington Nationals. Anthony Seigler, Andruw Monasterio, and Romy Gonzalez have been the primary choices up the middle, but they could see their spots stolen if the organization adds at shortstop or second base.
Tracy will then be tasked with figuring out the best options, but until then, it's all about waiting for things to become official.
