With the win, West Suburban advances to the Junior Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington.
Two of the team members are Somerset County athletes. Windber sophomore Cameron Mash and freshman Olivia O'Roark helped the squad to a dominating regional performance. O'Roark allowed one hit in five innings and struck out 10 in the title game. She also homered.

West Suburban outscored its opponents a whopping 63-4 in four games. Earlier, Monday, the team bested New Jersey 15-0 in four innings to reach the title game. West Suburban boat raced Maine 22-0 to open the regional, Thursday, July 23, and backed that up with a 14-4 triumph over Delaware.
The team is 12-0 overall this postseason. Mash has 20 hits and 22 runs scored, while O'Roark has delivered 19 hits, 24 RBIs and scored 14 runs. O'Roark has allowed just one unearned run on five hits, nine walks and struck out 47 over 22⅔ innings of work.
Last year, West Suburban captured a 12U Little League Softball World Series championship. That team was recently invited to the White House to celebrate its memorable accomplishment. One of the standouts on that team along with the 14U West Suburban squad is Reagan Bills of Cambria Heights. The Marucci ambassador has had a pair of summers that an athlete could only dream of.
West Suburban opens Junior League World Series play against Canada at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 2. West Suburban meets the West Region champion, Monday, the Southwest Region champ, Tuesday, and the Asia-Pacific champion from the Philippines, Wednesday.
If West Suburban is one of the top four teams in Pool B, it will advance to a single-elimination tournament, Thursday, Aug. 6. The Junior League World Series championship is slated for Saturday, Aug. 8.
Pool A is made up of teams from the U.S. Central, U.S. Southeast, U.S. Host, Latin America and Europe-Africa.
