The encrypted messaging service is making it easier to use the app across different iPhones and more.
Signal users can link another iPhone to an existing Signal account , rather than limiting secondary mobile devices to the iPad.
"We’re also expanding linked device support on iOS so you can link an iPhone to your Signal account in addition to our ongoing support for iPads," the company announced alongside Android linking support today.
When linking the additional iPhone, users can optionally transfer their complete message history and the last 45 days of saved media.
Signal says the transfer is fully end-to-end encrypted, using the same “link-and-sync” technology already offered for iPad and desktop devices, including the Signal app for Mac.
The expanded support should be especially useful for anyone using separate personal and work iPhones or testing multiple devices.
It also brings Signal’s multi-device experience closer to Apple’s Messages ecosystem, where conversations are available across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Signal version 8.22 for iOS is rolling out on the App Store now. Signal previously introduced usernames that let people connect without sharing a phone number .
