DYERSVILLE – Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper had barely arrived at the Field of Dreams Movie Site when he took the stage for a pregame press conference on Aug. 13.
But it was more than enough time for Harper to realize that he wanted his stay to last longer than just one game between the Phillies and Minnesota Twins .
“I definitely would like to have this be for three days instead of one day,” Harper said.
Harper is one of the biggest stars in the game. So his words certainly carry some weight. Despite being in Dyersville for only a short amount of time, he liked what he saw.
Both the Twins and Phillies arrived at the Dubuque County baseball landmark several hours prior to Thursday night’s game. The plan was for the two teams to head to Minnesota after the game to continue their series.

Harper believes it’s not quite enough time to soak up the sights, sounds and scenery of the movie site. The iconic Dyersville diamond from the 1989 movie is just a short walk from the new stadium where the MLB game will be played.
“I wish it was three days instead of coming in here and being so quick,” Harper said. “It’d be nice to be able to settle down, get the family out there.”
Phillies manager Don Mattingly was asked if he'd be in favor of seeing an entire series played in Dyersville. He was on board if the logistics could line up appropriately.
"It would be great if you could come and experience it over three days if everything worked out with that," Mattingly said.
