Chelsea are set to agree a deal for centre-back Trevoh Chalobah to join Como, Di Marzio reports.
The Blues are closer than ever to reaching an agreement over the sale of their academy graduate, with negotiations gathering pace over the past few days.
Chelsea have received an improved proposal from their Italian counterparts worth €28 million (£24m) plus performance-related bonuses.
The Italian club is also expected to submit another offer valued at €30m (£26m) plus bonuses, which could finally meet Chelsea’s expectations.
While the two clubs continue to work on the final details, the Chelsea centre-back has reportedly agreed personal terms with Como.
Chalobah is open to the move and is excited by the opportunity to continue his career in Italy. Chelsea have so far rejected two bids from Como, holding firm on their valuation of the defender.
The Blues were initially demanding a fee of around £35m but are ready to compromise.
With negotiations set to continue over the weekend, there is increasing confidence that the transfer could be completed in the coming days.
Como aren’t the only club interested in Chalobah. Inter Milan have admired the defender for some time, while another unnamed club has also been monitoring his situation.
However, Como are leading the race and one step away from finalising a deal.
The move would mark the end of Chalobah’s journey at Chelsea, where he progressed through the club’s famous academy before making his senior debut in 2021.
Since then, he has established himself as a reliable member of the first-team squad, making over 150 appearances for the Blues across all competitions.
A loan spell at Crystal Palace during the first half of the 2024/25 season helped revive his career before he returned to Stamford Bridge and had his busiest campaign at Chelsea.
Chalobah featured 47 times in all competitions last season and scored three goals. He was also part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad at the World Cup.
