Patrick Mahomes was bringing the energy while he was mic’d up at Chiefs practice.
The team gave fans a closer look at what it’s like to share the field with Mahomes, 30, in a video shared on Thursday, Aug. 13. “Audio check: @PatrickMahomes was indeed mic’d up,” the Chiefs wrote in the caption on X .
Mahomes was fired up on the field, shouting, “Woooo,” and “Oh yeah,” throughout the practice. In between recognizable words, he also let out a handful of grunts and shouts, like, “Eughhh!” and “Aughhh!” while rolling around on the grass.
In one moment, Mahomes is seen watching his teammates practice and telling them, “Nice, nice nice!” In another, he’s seen telling teammates, “Here we go, here we go, here we go” and telling them, “good job.”

He also introduced fans to a new word when he was seen saying, “Wa kaboom” during the practice before he was seen repeating, “Doggone!”
Fans loved seeing Mahomes mic’d up. “Need a 3 hour compilation of this immediately or we riot. You have 12 hours,” wrote one user on X. “Mahomes mic’d up videos never fail to make my day Love this energy,” said another.
Two days earlier, Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce poked fun at the quarterback by doing an impression of his voice. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Aug. 11, Kelce said, “One of the most surprising things you’ll ever find out about playing with Pat Mahomes is that the guy’s got a good cadence.”
“There’s something with the —” Kelce said before changing his voice to sound like Mahomes, “frequency of his voice, and when he says, ‘hut hut hut,’ it really gets you to [go].”

The tight end said the frequency of Mahomes’ voice “gets you to jump no matter what.”
The Chiefs play their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, Aug. 15. They’ll kick off their regular season with a home opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 14.
