Goals from Rey and Sandoval Lift Chivas to Victory Over Seattle Sounders
Seattle, WA.- Guadalajara delivered on its promise from the pre-match press conference: the Rojiblancos played with honor, came from behind, and defeated Seattle Sounders 2-1 at Lumen Field in their final game of the 2026 Leagues Cup, finishing the tournament with four points.
For Gabriel Milito and his players, this match represented an opportunity to close out the tournament with the responsibility that comes with wearing the Rojiblanco jersey while also giving the team momentum ahead of its return to the Apertura 2026 this Sunday. With the support of the Rojiblanca Nation , which packed the stands in Seattle, Guadalajara delivered a performance worthy of the standards it has established.
Falling behind before the 15-minute mark only fueled the Rebaño's competitive fire. The Guadalajara side took control through possession, displaying the fluid combinations and movement that have become a trademark of the team. Although the goal proved elusive in the opening half, the best was yet to come.
The second half became a constant bombardment of the Sounders' goal. Led by captain Luis Romo, an energetic and unstoppable Hugo Camberos , and an unrelenting collective effort, it was only a matter of time before the scoreboard swung in the visitors' favor. Luis Rey made his presence felt inside the box, alongside 'Santi' Sandoval, who once again showed why he and Camberos were among Mexico's most important players at the Concacaf U-20 Championship.
Following this performance, Chivas will face Santos on Sunday, August 16, at Estadio TSM, looking to reaffirm the best version of the team that captivated Chivahermanos and Mexican soccer fans throughout the past year.

In the 60th minute, after sustained pressure from the Rebaño, Luis Rey controlled the ball and fired a shot on his second attempt to beat the American goalkeeper. SANDO EFFECT! Just one minute after entering the match, Santiago Sandoval broke behind the defense and finished Luis Romo's service into the heart of the box in the 71st minute.

He hit the ball first-time toward the near post, forcing Frei into another save. - In the 58th minute, Alvarado opened up his body at the edge of the box and aimed for the far post, but Frei moved across to stop the effort. - In the 63rd minute, Marín appeared to give the Rebaño the lead with a precise header inside the box, but the goal was ruled out for an earlier offside.
