The Philadelphia Eagles’ social media team has found itself at the center of criticism after sharing a clip involving Jalen Hurts.
The video showed Quinyon Mitchell intercepting a pass from the Eagles quarterback, and it didn’t take long for the post to gain traction on social media. While celebrating a First-Team All-Pro’s play makes sense, the Eagles’ decision to highlight Hurts’ interception spurred a different reaction.
Soon after, social media users accused the franchise of platforming the quarterback’s mistake in front of a massive audience, and former Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho believes the fallout could eventually cost someone their job.

The clip showed Hurts’ throw landed closer to the middle of the field, an area where he has faced plenty of scrutiny for his ability to create plays.
As a result, the clip gave rival fans free ammo to poke fun at the quarterback. The clip also created an unfavorable narrative around Hurts, even though it came from a practice setting.
Once the video spread across social media, several analysts and former players questioned why the Eagles would post it.
Acho eventually joined the growing criticism .
“5 million views in 4 hours. 😳” he wrote on X. “I won’t guarantee somebody gets fired for this, but given my experience with the lengths people go to protect Jalen, somebody getting cussed out for sure and then may get fired.”

Former offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz also questioned the decision and called it an “odd choice for a social media clip.”
Why There’s a Perennial Debate Around Hurts
Hurts has become one of the NFL’s most debated quarterbacks, largely because his production does not always match the expectations surrounding other elite passers.
Since Jalen Hurts became a full-time starter, he has yet to cross 4,000 passing yards in a season. His best passing touchdown total stands at 25, which he reached in 2025.
However, Hurts has built much of his value through his legs. Prior to last season, the three-time Pro Bowler regularly finished with double-digit rushing touchdowns and gave Philadelphia another way to attack defenses.
However, that part of Hurts’ game took a major step back during the 2025 season. He finished with only 421 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, both career lows since taking over as the full-time starter in 2021.
Hurts also dropped to No. 16 in PFN’s QB Impact Metric after ranking inside the top 10 for three straight seasons.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have shown they will not shy away from major decisions when things go wrong.
General manager Howie Roseman has repeatedly made bold moves to reshape Philadelphia when necessary. Therefore, Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni could enter the season with their jobs under serious pressure.
If the Eagles fail to make another deep playoff run, the organization could consider moving on from both.
That pressure makes Hurts’ 2026 campaign even more important. Philadelphia already watched its season end in the Wild Card round last year.
The Eagles also traded A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots after the wide receiver repeatedly voiced frustrations about the offense and quarterback play. Going into the new season, Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Dontayvion Wicks, and rookie wideout Makai Lemon give Philadelphia several weapons.
