From No. 1 to No. 46: Iowa State WBB roster reports jersey numbers for newcomers
With under 100 days until the 2026-2027 women’s basketball season tips off around the country, the jersey numbers for the newcomers to Ames have been published on Cyclones.com’s roster page .
Sienna Harvey, a sophomore guard from Wodonga, Australia, transferred to Iowa State from a season at Washington, is listed as wearing No. 1, joining Tegan Stuart (2005), Madison Wise (2018-2021), Nyamer Diew (2022-2023) Jalynn Bristow (2024) and Reese Beaty (2026).
Mya Babbitt has traded in her No. 23 at Kent State for a No. 3 jersey at Iowa State. The Papillion, Neb., native will be the ninth in program history to wear No. 3, with the other players including: Jennifer Wuebben (1994), Rachel Pierson (2006-2007), Alexis Yackley (2009), Kelsey Harris (2011-2012), Emiah Bingley (2013), Emily Durr (2015-2018), Denae Fritz (2022-23) and Alisa Williams (2024-2026).
“Mills” as Dakic is also known as looks to one up her game via a jersey number following a season in Gainesville. Dakic will be the second player in Iowa State women’s basketball history to wear No. 8.
Québec City, Canada, native and Loyola-Chicago transfer Alex-Anne Bessette keep her jersey number of 10 from her prior stop with the Ramblers, and by doing so, she wears a number that dates back to the first Iowa State team in 1973-1974.
Sigourney native Karen Gerard (1974-1975) was the first to wear No. 10, followed by Mardi Pfannebecker (1989), Kim Martin (1994-1997), Erica Junod (2000-2004), Denae Stuckey (2008-2010), Lauren Mansfield (2011-2012) – who represented Australia in the 2024 Olympic games, Nia Washington (2017-2020), Kylie Feuerbach (2021) and Stephanie Soares (2023).
Ashleigh Connor, who will don No. 15, wears a number that was also part of the first ever (1973-1974) team.
Worn by Dolliver native Chris Neppel wore it in the first season. Colleen Peterson (1976-1978), Tracy Horvath, (1986-1989) Kim Van Deest, (1990-1992), Michelle Canzolino (1993), Holly Bordewyk (2000-2003), current Wyoming Cowgirls head coach Heather Ezell (2006-2009), “Kidd” Blaskowsky (2013-2o16), Inès Nezerwa (2019-2020) and Izzi Zingaro (2021-2023) also wore the one-five.
Gift Ezekiel heads to Ames for her senior season with Gator teammate Dakic. Ezekiel, who hails from Edo, Nigeria, will wear No. 21.
The other Cyclones who have wore No. 21 include: Carol Ruby (1976-1979), Sheila Mason (1982-1984), Susan Draper (1985), Shanda Fitzgerald (1990-1993), Ashley Homeyer (1999-2002), Katie Robinette (2003-2005), Kileah Mays (2012), Tenisha Matlock played the 2013-2014 season after a four year stint on the volleyball team, Bridget Carleton, who recently placed second in the WNBA 3-Point contest , donned it from 2016 to 2019 and Lexi Donarski from 2021 to 2023.
Following a standout career at NIACC to the NJCAA quarterfinals, where the Trojans fell to eventual Third Place Johnson County Community College, Nora Springs native and Mason City HS alumna Reggi Spotts will wear No. 22.
Spotts will be the 14th player in program history to wear No. 22, which includes: Diane Miller (1974), Cheryl Wood (1975) Sue Zbornik (1976-1977), Karla Thompson (1978), Sheila Mason (1981), Monica Missel (1983-1986) Sandy Hafner (1987), Tara Gunderson – whose 3-pointer started a streak that lasted 945 games – (1994-1997), Tracy Gahan (1999-2002), Genesis Lightbourne (2007-2010), Brynn Williamson (2012-2015), TeeTee Starks, (2016-2017) and Reagan Wilson (2025-2026).
Carlisle alumna Macy Comito will wear 23 for her first season in cardinal and gold. A Class 4A state champion in 2026, a 73-60 victory over Bishop Heelan (Sioux City), Comito scored a record 42 points.
She’ll join another well worn number society as the 13th to wear No. 23: Jackie Wissink (1974), Julie Goodrich (1975), Melanie Young (1991-1994), Cris Shelton (1997), Sarah Robson (1998-2001), Ada Anderson (2002), Brittany Lange (2007-2008), Claire Rockall (2009), Chassidy Cole (2010-2012), Ashley Hagedorn (2013-2014), Maddie Frederick (2019–2022) and Kelsey Joens (2024-2025).
Xiao “Smyle” Zhang, a 6-foot-6 center from Suzhou, China, will be a senior on the 2026-27 Iowa State women’s basketball team. She is listed as wearing No. 24, the 15th two-four in program history.
She joins the following Cyclones: Kris Fleck (1974), Barb Straight (1975), Cathy Strub (1976-1977), Terri Helgeson (1979), Margaret Ellibee (1980-1983), Kelley Meigel (1984), Etta Burns (1985-1988), Cledella Evans (1990-1993), Julie Hand (1994-1997), Tracy Paustian (2002-2005), Gillian Bjerke (2006-2007), Elly Arganbright (2011-2014), Ashley Joens – who holds the high water mark for points scored in a career with 3,060 (2019-2023) and Addy Brown (2024-2026).
Tjaša Turnšek, a 6-foot-2 freshman from Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia, makes history with her number choice. Turnšek will be the first No. 46 in Iowa State women’s basketball history. Over seven games at FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket held earlier this month, she averaged 16.7 points per game (eighth best), 4.9 rebounds per game, 1.3 assists and 2.1 steals.
In a 77-68 loss to Italy on July 11, she poured in 26 points.
