Chart records related to the World Cup were also rewritten in recent weeks, led by Shakira and Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai (FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026),” which shouts out the three stars, among others. Most notably, the joyous collaboration became the first World Cup anthem to top both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Now, the smash stands as the highest-charting official World Cup song ever on the Hot 100. On the Aug. 1 ranking, it enters the top 40, blasting 42-17. It bests the only other such song to have made the top 40, also by Shakira: “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” featuring Freshlyground, reached No. 38 in 2010.
“Dai Dai” totaled 8.6 million official streams (up 69%), 13.9 million in radio airplay audience (up 11%) and 7,000 sold (up 322%) in the United States July 17-23, according to data tracker Luminate.
The song has benefited from World Cup performances that bookended the 2026 edition’s festivities. Shakira and Burna Boy sang it for a reported 80,000-plus fans at the opening ceremony June 11 at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca. During the final match of soccer’s preeminent showcase on July 19, Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS and Madonna headlined the first-ever World Cup final halftime show , also featuring Burna Boy, among others, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., an 11-minute showcase that included “Dai Dai,” helping spark its latest gains.
