Let’s be honest — Beckham Jr. making the Giants’ 53-man roster was always a longshot. After all, the 33-year-old hasn’t played in over a year, and he’s played just 23 games over the last four years due to injury.
The Giants also revamped their WR room this offseason after losing Wan’Dale Robinson to the Titans in free agency, drafting Malachi Fields and adding Beckham Jr., Darnell Mooney, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Calvin Austin III, Braxton Berrios, and Xavier Gipson in free agency.
Stinnie has played just 249 snaps for the Giants in his two seasons with the team, and after they brought in Daniel Faalele and Lucas Patrick this offseason to compete for a starting spot opposite Jon Runyan Jr., it feels like Stinnie is the odd man out with Joshua Ezeudu and Jake Kubas both competing in camp for a backup job.
After trading away three-time Pro Bowler Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals, the Giants clearly needed to add more talent at defensive tackle. They signed Shelby Harris, Zacch Pickens, D.J. Reader, and Josh Tupou in free agency, and with Darius Alexander and Roy Robertson-Harris coming back, there’s bound to be some fierce competition at the position.
Roberts is 28 and has spent four years with the New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons. He’s never logged more than 18 tackles or one sack in any season, meaning he’s likely the most expendable of the 11 DTs New York currently has on its roster.
