Add Page Six on Google Perez Hilton's family revealed they "immediately fled" the blogger's Miami home when he began harming himself in a livestream on Tuesday.
"Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez’s children, niece, and sister were inside the home," a statement from the family shared on Hilton's website on Thursday began.
The family said that "when it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself," they "immediately fled to protect" the blogger's three children — Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8 — "from witnessing any further trauma."
"Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced," the statement continued. "An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy."
The family also said "the events of the past several days have been nearly unbearable" for them, while thanking fans for their "overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers."
At the end of the statement, Hilton's family promised to continue to provide updates on the media personality's condition via his website.
"Again, thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued prayers," the statement concluded.
Hilton was hospitalized Tuesday after self-harming in a TikTok livestream.
Cops responded to reports of a “suicide attempt,” according to 911 dispatch audio obtained by Page Six on Wednesday.
Authorities arrived at the scene around 7 p.m. and remained at Hilton’s Miami residence for four hours before he was “safely recovered and transported … to a local hospital.”
