Mandatory evacuations were underway in parts of Tuolumne County on Sunday due to a vegetation fire that has burned over 100 acres, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that the fire sparked in the area of Highway 108 and Stockton Road. Authorities initially reported that the fire, named the Dove Fire, had burned 166 acres and was spreading at a “dangerous” rate. They later said that the fire was spreading at a moderate rate.

Mandatory evacuation areas
As of 7 p.m., the sheriff’s office said mandatory evacuations were underway in the following areas:
McKibbon Drive
Golden Dove Lane
Crooked Lane
Southgate Road
Stockton Road
Silver Pine Lane
South Side of Mono from Greenley to Washington
Golden Dove
The Silos (on Washington St) to Hospital Rd
Beretta Sreet. from Washington/Restano/Mono to Lyons Road
Evacuation centers for people, animals and cooling centers
Tuolumne CRC opened at around 5:30 p.m. as an evacuation center. The temporary animal shelter is located at Animal Control (10040 Victoria Way, Jamestown) and the shelter for large animals is located at Posse Grounds (19130 Rawhide Rd, Jamestown).
Adittionally, the Tuolumne County Transit Center, located at 12879 Justice Ct, in Sonora, was opened as a cooling center for unhoused people and for those in Camp Justice.
