See the full story · 1 sourcesIt's last call time on the PGA Tour, the 34th and final regular-season event of the 2026 season upon us at the Wyndham Championship. Of course, players will be trying to claim victory at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., where a year ago Cameron Young finally claimed his maiden tour title , springboarding him into a career-best year in 2026. But it's players on the FedEx Cup points list bubble, with the top 70 advancing to the playoffs, who arguably have the most on the line this week.
Consider the following domino effect: Say a player outside the top 70 plays his way inside the bubble. He's on to Memphis and the FedEx St. Jude Classic, where another nice finish perhaps elevates him into the top 50 on the points list. Now he's moving on to the BMW Championship in St. Louis, but more important has a spot in all the 2027 signature events locked up. Well, that's a critical headstart if he wants to be in the top 90 in the points list next year, which then earns him a spot into the 2028 PGA Tour's Championship Series.
That's why, for instance, Jackson Koivun at No. 70 entering the week, wants to buckle down for one more event. Or why Brooks Koepka, No. 86 to start the week, has so much more to play for as he tries to improve his position in 2027 and beyond.
As for the defending champion, Cameron Young obviously has great memories of Sedgefield from a year ago, where a final-round 68 gave him a dominant six-stroke win
This week’s winner will receive a $1.53 million cut of the $8.5 million purse and—most critically of all this week—500 FedEx Cup points.

Opened in 1926, Sedgefield Country Club is a Donald Ross design that has been the longtime host of the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship. The course co-hosted the inaugural Greater Greensboro Open (today’s Wyndham) in 1938, won by Sam Snead. The tournament has been played at several courses over the years, and Sedgefield has hosted it since 2008. In 2007, the course underwent a $3 million restoration project aimed at transforming the layout back to Ross’ original intent. In typical Ross style, the greens are quite busy, with prominent slopes demanding the player stay below the hole.
