The NFL’s transaction report showed that the Chargers released Cleveland on Monday; however, they shared the news via X for the first time on Tuesday.
Bowden, 25, will enter his second stint with the Chargers. He finished the 2025 season with the Chargers before being waived in mid-May of this year.
In November 2025, the Chargers signed Bowden to the practice squad, but he was released a week later. Shortly after the team's playoff loss to the Patriots, he signed a reserve/futures contract.
Bowden was without a team for the last three months but will ultimately get another shot with the Chargers.
Bowden went undrafted in 2024 and signed as a free agent to the Packers . He was released by the Packers twice, the second and final time being in mid-August 2024.
Halfway through the 2024 NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Bowden to their practice squad, but he was released a week later.
In April 2025, the San Diego native signed with the Michigan Panthers of the UFL.
As for Cleveland, did not play a game for the Chargers. The veteran offensive lineman signed with the team's practice squad shortly before their playoff game against New England. Prior to his time with the Chargers, Cleveland was released by the Baltimore Ravens after he was suspended for three games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
A month after signing that contract with the Chargers, he was arrested for DUI and failure to maintain lane.
Cleveland, 27, has played in 64 games in the NFL, all with the Ravens.
