After watching a 4-run lead disappear in the opening inning, the Lady Zebras erupted for 11-unanswered runs to roll to a 15-6 preseason scrimmage victory.
Claremore's offense was relentless throughout the three-inning contest, piling up 10 hits while drawing 9 walks and swiping 4 bases.
Alexis Morton led the charge, going a perfect 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs, including a run-scoring double. Addison Reavis finished with multiple hits and drove in 3 runs, while Tilly Andrews added 2 hits, including an RBI triple.
Caroline Messned also collected multiple hits, highlighted by an RBI double.
The Lady Zebras showed patience at the plate as Alexa Reed, Bella Michael and Claire Pilkington each drew 2 walks.
In the circle, Shaylee Huey earned the win after allowing 6 runs [1 earned] on 6 hits over 3 innings. She struck out 3 and walked 2 as Claremore's defense battled through several early miscues before settling in.
After Riley Fay and Bella Weaver were retired to begin the game, the Lady Zebras strung together 4-straight run-scoring at-bats.
Reavis lined an RBI single to right to score Pilkington before Andrews followed with an RBI single that plated Reavis. Morton then singled home Andrews, and Michael later worked a bases-loaded walk to extend the advantage to 4-0.
The Lady Hornets answered immediately.
After reaching on an error to begin the bottom of the first, the Lady Hornets capitalized on several defensive miscues and passed balls to score five times. An RBI single made it 4-1 before a pair of walks and aggressive baserunning trimmed the deficit to 2 runs.
The biggest blow came from a 3-run single by the Lady Hornets' No. 8 hitter, giving BTW its only lead of the afternoon at 5-4.
The Lady Zebras responded with their biggest inning of the day.
Pilkington opened the second by walking before Reavis ripped a 2-run single to center to put Claremore back in front, 6-5. Andrews followed with an RBI triple, Morton delivered an RBI double and Messner added another run-scoring double to stretch the lead to 9-5.
Addelyn Kendall later grounded out to first, allowing Messner to score and cap a 6-run frame that put the Lady Zebras ahead 10-5.
After Huey stranded two runners in the bottom half, Claremore put the game out of reach in the third.
Pilkington again ignited the rally with a walk before an outfield error on Reavis' ground ball allowed both Pilkington and Reavis to score, making it 12-5.
Morton then doubled home Andrews for another run, and Kendall's fielder's choice produced two more runs after a throwing error by the catcher, pushing the margin to 15-5.
The Lady Hornets managed one final run in the bottom of the third when a leadoff triple came around to score on a groundout, but Huey recorded a strikeout before inducing another ground ball to end the scrimmage.
