Crews knock down fire at downtown San Jose tire shop

Crews knocked down a three-alarm fire that ravaged a tire shop in downtown San Jose on Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.

The blaze started around 5:30 a.m. at the Baja Tires shop in the first block of East William Street.

It was contained at 6:53 a.m. The fire department said crews were able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby businesses.

Firefighters are expected to stay on scene for several hours to clear the area. Arson investigators have also been sent to probe the cause of the fire.
