We have done the big lists. Now, we are unveiling a Mount Rushmore for each high school, boys and girls, so each school will have four faces. Athletes must be graduated to be considered and this is for high school accomplishments, so club gymnasts are not included in this one.
Fans will be able to vote for the athlete they think is missing (to make it a top 5).
Here is a look at the high school girls Mount Rushmore picks:
Holland High School
Courtney Bartholomew: State champion swimmer is state record-holder, NCAA All-American at Virginia and was American record holder in the 100-meter (short course) backstroke and part of a Team USA world-record relay. Six-time junior national champion.
Taylor Garcia: This swimmer swept all eight individual state titles, won six relays and three team titles, becoming the most decorated athlete in state history before becoming an All-American at Michigan.
Emily Bos: Multi-state champion swimmer before becoming an All-American at Auburn. Chosen for Team USA select camp.
Sadie Misiewicz: A three-time all-state soccer player, she is one of the top soccer players in area history. Went on to play at Michigan State and now professionally.
West Ottawa
Gabby Reynolds: Miss Basketball of Michigan was all-state three times and plays at the Division I level at George Washington.
Natalie Stitt: This state champion diver was all-state and All-American three times. She went on to make the NCAA finals at Notre Dame. She also was a state qualifier in the pole vault.
Shelby Lacy: The top breaststroker in area history, Lacy won back-to-back Division 1 state titles in the 100-yard breaststroke before becoming Michigan State's school record-holder in the event.
Natalie Dunn: Earned all-state in basketball and volleyball before playing NCAA Division I volleyball at Furman, then transferring to Hope for her fifth year.
Holland Christian
Alyssa Garvelink: All-state volleyball player three times and was Miss Volleyball finalist. Was an All-American at MSU and plays professionally for the Grand Rapids Rise.
Kathy Arendsen: The top pitcher in the state, she led the Maroons to a state championship in 1976 then played on the U.S. national team.
Carissa Verkaik: Was all-state in basketball and track before becoming national player of the year for Calvin with the Jostens Trophy.
Kristen Etterbeek: Was all-state in volleyball and tennis, leading both teams to state titles. Was Miss Volleyball finalist. Went on to play at Penn.
Zeeland East
Sophie Riemersma: All-state in volleyball and track, she is the Chix all-time scoring leader in basketball. Miss Volleyball finalist went on to play at the NCAA Division I level.
Suenomi Norinh: Won four state championships in hurdles and jumping and led the Chix to a state championship before competing at Missouri.
Paige Westra: All-state in track, soccer and the first all-state female football player in state history. Went on to do track and field at GVSU, earning All-American honors.
Allison Liske: The school record holder in both shot put and discus, she was a national qualifier at Michigan. Also an all-conference basketball player.
Zeeland West
Haley Hoogenraad: All-state in softball, basketball and cross country was a state qualifier in track. Went on to start at Michigan after being named Miss Softball.
Rachele Schulist: State champion in track and cross country, was an All-American at MSU helping the Spartans win the NCAA championship.
Carly Sleeman: Miss Softball for position players, she was all-state three times at catcher and went on to play at CMU and plays now at Kentucky.
Abby Winn: A four-sport athlete, she was all-state in soccer and volleyball, a state qualifier in track and a starter in basketball. Went on to play soccer at GVSU.
Hamilton
AJ Ediger: All-state in basketball and volleyball, led both teams to state quarterfinals multiple times. Went on to play college basketball at Iowa.
Kara VandeGuchte: All-state in volleyball and track, did both at Hope, earning All-American in the heptathlon and leading volleyball to the Final Four.
Bria Schrotenboer: Was elite soccer player earning a spot on the U-19 national team and at MSU. All-state in basketball, led Hawkeyes to state semifinals.
Emily Oren: All-state runner in cross country and track, ran at Hilldale and was an NCAA champion in the steeplechase twice before running for Team USA.
Saugatuck
Ana Capotosto: Arguably the best all-around athlete area history, was state champion in the 800 meters, all-state in basketball and volleyball. She went on to play at the NCAA Division I level at Toledo where she was a starter and captain.
Aerin Baker: All-state in volleyball and multiple track events, she went on to play volleyball at Calvin and become an All-American.
Lauren Jenkins: An elite distance runner, she excelled in cross country and track, earning all-state before running at Michigan State on the NCAA title team.
Heather Price: Another stellar distance runner who was all-state in cross and track before running at Michigan.
Fennville
Selena Beltran-Pena: An all-state softball pitcher, she was Sentinel Player of the Year and went on to play at Hope College.
Amber VanWieren: Was a 1,000-point scorer in basketball and also starred in softball, track and volleyball.
Coryne Howard : The all-time leading scorer in basketball for the Blackhawks, earning all-state honorable mention twice.
Lindsay Cossey: This softball was honorable mention all-state, keeping hitters off-balance.
Black River
Kylee Poulton: Won multiple state championships in sprint events on the track before going on to run at Indiana University.
Eliza Beird: Was all-state in soccer and also a strong basketball player, she went on to play soccer at Hope.
