Center Tyler Biadasz, who was signed on a three-year, $30 million deal, damaged his ACL in practice on Tuesday, reports Nick Shook of Around the NFL, who cited NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter .
After news broke that Biadasz will miss "a significant amount of time" due to the injury, former Charger Breiden Fehoko sounded off.
"100 million in cap space. You just absolutely wanna be cheap for the position group that matters the most. So many quality free agents were available to build depth. I don’t feel sorry for this team," he wrote.
The nose tackle, who spent all three of his NFL seasons with the Chargers in 2020-22, also detailed several options he would have like to have seen his former team target.
"Elgton Jenkins, Wyatt Teller, Isaac Seumalo, Vera Tucker, Braden Smith, Burford," he wrote . "Just to name a few who all could’ve provided starter quality and depth at the interior/tackle/center position. Funny enough the top 5 weren’t even thrown an offer."
He also pushed back against fans who criticized his take.
"Chargers fans are mad I’ve pointed out the obvious and not no guy that’ll be Mr kiss [expletive] sugarcoat [expletive]," he wrote .
Fehoko, as a former professional defensive lineman, probably has a pretty good idea as to who could help the Bolts.
And considering that injuries to the offensive line helped derail the Chargers' season last year, he may have a point.
That said, part of those issues were due to the ultimately season-ending injury sustained by the Chargers' best lineman, Joe Alt, and he is healthy again for the upcoming season.
If the Chargers believe they can still compete with Biadasz missing significant time, then there's nothing to worry about.
But if they struggle due to offensive line play, perhaps they should ask their former nose tackle Fehoko for some tips.
