See the full story · 2 sourcesAfter working on individual drills the first two days of training camp, Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers did not practice on Friday as he works his way back from a torn ACL and lateral meniscus that ended his 2025 season early.
While it may raise eyebrows at first glance, sources told SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes that Nabers not practicing was part of the "plan" for his recovery process. Hughes noted on X.com that New York "said they were going to push him, see how he reacts, then push him again."
Head coach John Harbaugh confirmed after practice that Nabers is doing "fine" and there's nothing to worry about with him not being on the field.
"I'd say it's part of the process," Harbaugh said. "We'll work through it. Every single day will be what it is that given day he's working real hard. Made a lot of progress. That's what we decided to do today for practice."
Nabers told reporters Thursday that he doesn't have a target date for his full return to action, but is continuing to work hard and will be transparent with his recovery.
“Just stacking days,” Nabers said . “And I'll continue to let everybody know how I feel and when I'm able to get back out there.”
He added: “If I can just keep on stacking days with the training staff and they continue to see improvements on my body, continue to see improvements on my knee and where I’m at, it just gives me more confidence to go out there and be able to play."
The LSU product made just 18 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns over four games before suffering the injury in Week 4 on Sept. 28, 2025. Once back at full health, he'll look to improve on his impressive rookie season in 2024 when he made 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. And to make things easier, Nabers will have Jaxson Dart at QB after just playing one game together last season.
