The long-awaited Detroit Lions “Rivalries” uniform is scheduled to be unveiled on Tuesday, Aug. 25. But it looks like Fox News may have leaked them before any team had a chance to announce them. In a post featuring an image straight from Fanatics, the news website revealed jerseys from all eight teams (every team from the NFC North, AFC South) who will have “Rivalries” uniforms this season.

The new design—which rotates through NFL divisions every year—features mostly an all-white jersey with a sleek design on the shoulder and the trademarked Honolulu Blue displayed with “DETROIT” stamped just above the player number. It’s unclear which pants the Lions would wear with this jersey.
Here’s an official explanation of the Lions’ design:
“Takes a futuristic approach to Lions identity, pairing Honolulu blue with carbon-fiber-inspired numbers that nod to the city’s automotive and racing heritage. Lion-eye shoulder details reinforce the team’s ‘Defend the Den’ mentality.”
It’s a pretty unique look that doesn’t really resemble anything they’ve worn recently, which could either be a positive or negative, depending on your outlook. It certainly is different , but time will tell whether fans like it or not.
Earlier this month, the Lions announced that they would wear these uniforms for their home Week 8 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 1. Coincidentally, the Vikings will be wearing their version of the “Rivalries” uniform when they host the Lions in Week 15—currently scheduled to be the “Sunday Night Football” game that week (Dec. 20).
