That says a lot about how far the Green Bay Packers quarterback has come. Not long ago, the talk centered on whether he could replace Aaron Rodgers. Now, it's about whether he can take the next step and lead Green Bay on a deep playoff run.
That's a much different discussion. Love is coming off another productive season, throwing for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns and just six interceptions while completing 66.3% of his passes. He also posted a 101.2 passer rating, giving him a third straight year with more than 3,300 passing yards.

Those numbers don't happen by accident. Love has developed into one of the NFL 's more efficient quarterbacks. His footwork looks more polished, his accuracy continues to improve, and he's become much more comfortable delivering the football on time. Just as important, he did a better job protecting the ball than he did the previous season, cutting down on the costly interceptions that occasionally stalled Green Bay's offense.
That doesn't mean he's a finished product. There are still moments when Love trusts his arm a little too much. Every now and then he'll force a throw into heavy coverage, believing his top targets can come down with it. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don't. It's one of the few areas of his game that still needs a little polishing.

The encouraging part for the Packers is that those mistakes have become less frequent. Love has settled into the role of franchise quarterback, and Green Bay no longer has to wonder whether it found the right successor under center. Instead, the focus has shifted toward winning in January.
That's where the next leap will happen. The regular-season production has been there, and so has the efficiency. If Love can pair those traits with postseason success, look out.
