Butler exhibition brings another Shondell vs. Shondell coaching matchup
Butler is coming off a 2025 season that consisted of a 12-17 overall record and 5-11 Big East record. The Bulldogs were swept in their two matches last year against Big Ten foes – on the road against Iowa and at home against then-No. 14 Purdue.
Wisconsin’s last match against Butler was in 2005, and the Badgers have a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series.
The Badgers have more recent familiarity with the Bulldogs in a different way, however. Butler head coach Kyle Shondell is the nephew of Wisconsin assistant coach John Shondell.
Kyle Shondell is approaching his fourth season at the helm at Butler after a successful tenure as the men’s head coach at Indiana Tech. He was the AVCA National Coach of the Year at the NAIA level in 2022.
