See the full story · 3 sourcesThe Atlanta Braves have activated outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. from the injured list for Monday’s matchup with the New York Mets, the team announced .
Acuña, 28, has been on the IL since June 10 with a strained left hamstring. He suffered the injury while running to first base on a ground ball, pulling up just before reaching the bag.

The Braves pulled Acuña off of a minor-league rehab assignment to activate him. In the nine games he played with Atlanta’s Florida Complex League and Triple-A affiliates, he batted 6-for-26 with a home run and played three games in right field.
Presuming that Acuña returns to right field when he’s ready, that could move Mike Yastrzemski (.226, .669 OPS) back to left field and a possible platoon with Mauricio Dubón (.262, .719 OPS). Or Dubón could return to shortstop, where he’s played 37 games this season.
This was the second IL stint of the season for Acuña, sidelining him for the Braves’ past 38 games. He missed an additional 13 games in May, also due to a left hamstring strain . As a result of his injuries, Acuña has been limited to 53 games this season, compiling a slash average of .251/.373/.421 with 7 home runs, 10 doubles, 22 RBI and 15 stolen bases.
Without Acuña in the lineup, the Braves have gone 25-27. However, they still lead the National League East by 5.5 games at 62-43 going into Monday’s play. Their 37-16 record with Acuña playing has largely contributed to that.
Since winning NL MVP in 2023 , Acuña has missed time due to injury in each of the past three seasons. He tore the ACL in his left knee in 2024 and played in only 49 games. Acuña didn’t return from the injury until mid-May last season. But after returning, Acuña also struggled through a back injury and right calf strain, which limited him to 95 games.
Outfielder Brewer Hicklen (.368/.478/.579 in eight games) was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett to make room for Acuña on the Braves’ roster.
