The Chicago Cubs have dealt with a plethora of injuries to their starting rotation this season.
Right-hander Ben Brown landed on the 15-day IL in June with a stress reaction in a bone in his neck.
It's an identical injury to the one that kept him off the mound for the final three months of his rookie year with the Cubs in 2024.
Brown began rehabbing from the stress reaction, but he's reportedly suffered a setback.
"Ben Brown is experiencing symptoms again after his outing yesterday. He will fly with the team back to Chicago and consult with doctors to determine what’s next," Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network wrote on X.
It seemed that before the symptoms, Brown was headed towards a minor league rehab assignment. Assumingly, that will be put on hold.

Brown threw live bullpen sessions last Friday and yesterday. Apparently, his neck is not responding well to those outings.
"The Cubs had already ruled out the idea that Brown would return to the rotation, but the hope was that he could be a potential bulk option out of the bullpen in September and into the playoffs," Jordan Campbell of Cubbies Crib wrote.
This is a brutal update for the Cubs and Brown. Until he visits a doctor, the organization is left wondering what's next for the soon-to-be 27-year-old.
